A forecast doesn't say what happens in your harbour.
It describes the state of the sea. What happens to your boat, you can only imagine.
MoorPilot tells you when your harbour needs attention
The marina
It can tell you how things look on the pontoon, but only once it's already happening, and only in staffed hours.
MoorPilot
It warns you ahead of time when the conditions expected inside the harbour may put strain on the moorings.
Harbours are not all the same.
A forecast of the sea area does not describe conditions inside the harbour.
-
Every harbour lets weather in from some sides and keeps it out from others. We work out which side yours takes, and which side is sheltered.
-
Then we match the gusts that are coming to that shape — not the average over the bay. Adverse weather only counts if it can reach the mooring.
-
If it can, we write. You get a reason to go down, not another forecast to interpret.
An account gets the Thursday recap. Premium writes when you're not looking.

Frequently asked questions
What are watch and alert notices?
watch and alert are not a weather forecast. They say whether this harbour is open to the weather that is coming.
watch: conditions look worth attention — keep an eye on it, consider checking without rushing.
alert: the forecast clears the higher bar — that is when we say go check the boat.
Both can be wrong: they start from a forecast. We bias toward silence over false alarms at 3am.
Why is MoorPilot different from a simple weather forecast?
Wave and wind forecasts describe an area of sea. MoorPilot takes them as a starting point and runs them through a proprietary model that assesses how those conditions translate inside a given harbour, where the layout of the structures makes exposure differ from harbour to harbour. The result is a risk assessment calculated for your harbour, refreshed with every forecast cycle.
How many emails will I get if I sign up?
With a Free account you get one recap, every Thursday morning. With Premium, watch and alert notices are added, sent only when the model finds conditions that concern your harbour.
My harbour isn't listed. Can you add it?
Write to us at support@moorpilot.com with the harbour you care about: we consider adding it based on the requests we get.
Do I need to enter my boat details?
No. You can skip this step and add them later.
